1. India became 35th full member of Missile Technology Control Regime
1. India on 27 June 2016 became the 35th full member of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR). This entry would be mutually beneficial to enhance global non-proliferation norms.
The instrument of accession to MTCR for India was signed in New Delhi by Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar.
2. The entry also marks India's first entry into any multilateral export control regime.The MTCR Point of Contact in Paris conveyed the decision regarding India's accession to the regime through the French Embassy in New Delhi as well as the Embassies of The Netherlands and Luxembourg.

2. AIIB approves first loans for projects in four countries
1. The China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has approved first set of loans totalling US 509 million dollars to finance projects in four countries viz. Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia and Tajikistan.
2. These loans for the four projects were approved in Board of Directors meeting of AIIB held at its headquarters in Beijing, China.
3. These loans will have an interest rate of London Interbank Offered Rate (LIBOR) plus 1.15 % and a repayment period of 25 years with 5 years in grace period. These projects spanning in the energy, transport and urban development sectors will help to bridge the region’s critical infrastructure financing gap. It will also help to strengthen regional connectivity.

3. June 26: International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
1. The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is observed every year on June 26 to raise awareness of the major problem that illicit drugs. The day is also observed as an expression of United Nations’ (UN) determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse.
2. 2016 theme: “Listen First”. The theme is an initiative to increase support for prevention of drug use that is based on science. It highlights the importance of effective investment in the well-being of children and youth, their families and their communities to fight problem of illicit drugs.

4. N Srinivasan re-elected President of Tamil Nadu Cricket Association for 15th term
1. Former BCCI chief N Srinivasan was unanimously re-elected as President of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) for a 15th consecutive term on 25 June 2016.
2. He along with the other office bearers of the state cricketing body for the current season were elected at its 86th annual general body meeting in Chennai based on consensus.

5. Jitu Rai wins silver in ISSF World Cup
1. Shooter Jitu Rai won silver in the 10 m Air Pistol event at the ISSF World Cup held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
2. It is the second medal in a World Cup this season for Rai, who had won the free pistol gold in the first World Cup in Bangkok.
Brazilian shooter Felipe Almeida Wu won the gold medal, while Korea’s Jin Jongoh bagged the bronze medal.

6. Lionel Messi retires from Argentina after Copa America final loss to Chile
1. Lionel Messi, the Barcelona star, announced his plans to retirement from international football.The announcement from the foot balling great of his generation came just hours after he missed the penalty in the Copa America final.
2. His team, Argentina, faced a defeat from Chile in Copa America final at New Jersey in the US.Argentina lost 4-2 on penalties to Chile after a 0-0 draw in MetLife Stadium.

7. Chile wins 2016 Copa America Football tournament
1. Defending champion Chile won the 2016 Copa America Football tournament by defeating Argentina in a penalty shootout. In the final match played at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey (US) Chile defeated Argentina by 4-2 goals in the penalty shootout as in the regulation period both teams failed to score goal.
2. This was second Copa America title won by Chile after winning it for the first title in 2015 after defeating Argentina. With this, Chile also became the first team to win the title back to back since 1947.

Golden Ball: Alexis Sanchez (Chile).
Golden Glove award: Claudio Bravo (Chile).

8. Noted Malayalam theatre artist Kavalam Narayana Panicker passes away
1. Noted Malayalam theatre doyen Kavalam Narayana Panicker passed away due age-related ailments in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He was 88.
2. He was dramatist, theatre director and poet. He had written over 26 Malayalam plays and had played a pioneering role in bringing idiom into Malayalam theatre.
