Modi announces ‘Pravasi Kaushal Vikas Yojna’

A special skill development program - ‘Pravasi Kaushal Vikas Yojna’ for Indian youth is planned, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi.


Addressing the 14th edition of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas at Bengaluru, Modi the new skill development scheme is aimed at Indian youth who wish to seek jobs abraod.
The Pravasi Kausalya Vikas Yojana is aimed to boost the confidence level of the Indian youth so that they did not feel strangers when they land in a country of their choice for vocation and assured. “Irrespective of the vocation they choose, the government would offer them skill development programme.”
He said the Indian Government would reach out to the needy people of Indian origin whether it is medical and shelter issue or transportation of mortal remains of those who die abroad. India would proactively address the needs of Indian nationals abroad.
Modi announced a slew of new measures for the benefit of the overseas Indians, said over 30 million overseas Indians living abroad had not only excelled in the fields they had chosen but also stood as role models for immigrants from other countries through their hard work, culture, ethos and value and law abiding nature.
While contributing to the economy of the country they had chosen to live that had also ensured the development of the country of their origin and said that the annual remittance from overseas Indians stood at over 69 billion dollar, which was an invaluable contribution to the Indian economy.
