1. PM raises black money issue at G20 summit
 As India makes attempts to recover black money from abroad,
 Prime Minister Narendra Modi today asked every country, especially tax havens, to provide information for tax purposes in accordance with treaty obligations.
Raising the pitch on the black money issue, Modi in his intervention at the summit of the Group of 20 industrialised and major emerging economies, called for close global coordination to address the challenge posed by it.
Modi voiced India’s support for a new global standard on automatic exchange of tax information, saying it would be instrumental in
getting information relating to unaccounted money hoarded abroad and enable its eventual repatriation.
He also extended India’s backing for all initiatives to facilitate exchange of information and mutual assistance in tax policy and administration.
The Prime Minister made the remarks at the plenary session on the subject of “Delivering Global Economic Resilience” on the second and final day of the summit held at the Brisbane Exhibition and Convention centre.
He also expressed the hope that the Base Erosion and Profit Sharing (BEPS) system would fully address the concerns of developing and developed economies.
BEPS is a technical term referring to the effect of tax avoidance strategies used by multinational companies on countries’ tax basis. BEPS is known more commonly as ‘transfer pricing’.

2. Cambridge holds top spot in UK university ranking

 Cambridge University has retained its reputation as Britain’s best university while its rival Oxford slipped to number 2 from the joint first spot in the ’University Guide 2015’ released here today.
The rankings collated annually by British dailies ‘The Times’ and ‘Sunday Times’ found that Cambridge has a “much better graduate employment rate than Oxford six months after graduation and slightly higher levels of student satisfaction“.
Competitor Oxford University has slipped from its joint first spot to No 2 in a “dead heat” competition between the two best known universities in the world.

3. Two states, three UTs achieve 100 percent financial inclusion under PM Jan Dhan Yojana
Union Finance Ministry on 14 November 2014 announced that Goa and Kerala became the first states in the country to achieve 100 percent Financial Inclusion under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY).
Also, three Union Territories (UTs) namely Chandigarh, Puducherry and Lakshadweep achieved 100 percent financial inclusion.
According to official data, 11.26 lakh bank accounts were opened in Kerala, followed by 77485 accounts in Goa, 1.36 lakh accounts in Chandigarh, 69819 accounts in Puducherry and 3588 accounts in Lakshadweep under the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY).
States of Kerala and Goa, union territories of Chandigarh, Puducherry and Lakshadweep and three districts of Gujarat — Porbandar, Mehasana, Gandhinagar have been declared as 100 per cent saturated in terms of coverage of all households with at least one bank account.

4. China launched remote sensing satellite Yaogan-23
China on 15 November 2014 launched remote sensing satellite Yaogan-23 from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre. The satellite was carried by a Long March-2c rocket, which marks the 198th mission for Long March rocket family.
The Yaogan-23 will be used mainly for scientific experiments, natural resource surveys, crop yield estimates and disaster relief.
In 2006, China launched the first satellite in the Yaogan series that is Yaogan-1.

5. Union Ministry of HRD decided to use Sanskrit as 3rd language in KVs in place of German language
Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) in the second week of November 2014 decided to use Sanskrit as a third language in schools of Kendriya Vidyalaya (KVs) in place of German language.
The decision to discontinue German was taken after the meeting of Board of Governors of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) on 27 October 2014. The meeting was headed by Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani.
German, which was taught as an option to Sanskrit, has now been made an additional subject or hobby class (not a third language) for students from classes 6 to 8.

6. FIPB approved HDFC Bank proposal to raise 74 percent foreign holding ceiling
The Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) on 14 November 2014 approved the HDFC Bank proposal to raise foreign investment ceiling of the bank to 74 percent.
According to FDI norms, foreign investment up to 49 percent in banks is permitted under the automatic route and beyond 49 percent FIPB clearance is required.

7. Ratan Tata inducted on board of the INTERPOL Foundation

ata Sons Chairman Ratan Tata on 14 November 2014 was inducted on the board of INTERPOL Foundation to contribute to two new global initiatives aimed at combating organised crime and terrorist activities by the foundation.
The two initiatives include protecting cultural property and modernising channels of international judicial cooperation.
The other board members include HSBC CEO Stuart Gulliver, Credit Agricole Chairman Jean-Marie Sander, Abraaj Capital Chairman and CEO Arif Naqvi and Renault-Nissan Alliance Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn

8. Saina, Srikanth lift China Open
 Olympic bronze-medallist Saina Nehwal clinched the $ 700,000 China Open Super Series Premier tournament after beating young Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the summit clash, in Fuzhou on Sunday.
The World No. 5 Indian prevailed over the 17-year-old Akane 21-12 22-20 in the women’s singles finals which lasted 42 minutes at the Haixia Olympic Sport Centre.
Young Indian shuttler K Srikanth clinched his maiden Super Series title after defeating two-time Olympic champion Lin Dan of China in the men’s singles events of China Open Super Series Premier.
The 21-year-old from Andhra Pradesh showed nerves of steel to produce a dominating performance which helped him see off five-time world champion Lin 21-19 21-17 in the men’s singles final which lasted 46 minutes here.
