1. Indian-origin Davinder Singh named vice-chair of ICC Commission on Corporate Responsibility and Anti-corruption
1. Indian-origin lawyer Davinder Singh in the second week of February 2016 was appointed as a vice-chair of the International Chamber of Commerce’s Commission on Corporate Responsibility and Anti-corruption.
2. Davinder Singh, a citizen of Singapore, became one of three vice-chairs of the commission. Other two vice-chairs are François Vincke of Belgium and Iohann Le Frapper of France.

2.  Book titled A Kingdom for his Love launched by Amar Chitra Katha
1.A fiction book titled A Kingdom For His Love was launched in February 2016 by Amar Chitra Katha (ACK). The book is co-authored by Vani Mahesh and Shinie Antony.
2.The authors through the book want to retell the Sanskrit play 'Swapnavasavadattam', by one of the earliest and most celebrated playwrights Bhasa. 
3.It is an immersive novel about two people coming together against all odds for the sake of true love.

3.Karnataka Mobile One project won 2016 Best m-Government Service Award at World Government Summit
Karnataka’s Mobile One project won 2016 Best m-Government Service Award at the 4th World Government Summit in Dubai, the UAE.
The project was selected for the award in the One Stop App category at the international level.
To win the award, the Mobile One competed with projects from about 64 countries of which the e-governance apps of the UK and Kazakhstan were also shortlisted.
Features of Mobile One project
• It brings together around 4000 services of multiple states and central government departments as well as private service providers at one place.
• The services can be accessed in the form of an application that include government services like utility bill payments, income and property tax payment, SAKALA services, bus and railway ticket booking.
• In addition, various private services in the categories of healthcare, banking, travel, legal, agriculture and other areas are also provided by the application.
• The services can be accessed as an App on smartphones, a web portal or through short messege service (SMS) and interactive voice response system (IVRS).
• The project was launched in December 2014 by the President Pranab Mukherjee.

4.Soviet football legend Anatoli Ilyin passed away
1.Soviet football legend Anatoli Ilyin passed away  in Moscow, Russia. He was 84.
2.Ilyin was the scorer of the first ever UEFA European Championship qualifying goal and the strike that earned the Soviet Union Olympic gold in 1956.
3.The legendary footballer won five Soviet Top League titles and two Soviet Cups during a club career spent at home-town Spartak Moskva. 
4.He was the league's top scorer in 1954 and 1958, and in all managed 106 goals during a 13-year playing career.

5. India, UAE ink 9 bilateral agreements for cooperation in various sectors 
1. India and United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed 9 bilateral agreements covering cooperation in the various sectors. These agreements were signed during the second day of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi official visit to India.
Some Agreements are
 MoU on Technical Cooperation in Cyber Space and Combating Cyber Crime: Provides common platforms for both countries for technical cooperation in Cyber Space and in the area of Combating Cyber Crime.
MoU for Participation institutional investors in Infrastructure Investments: It will help to establish a framework to facilitate participation of UAE institutional investors in Infrastructure Investments in India.
General Framework Agreement on Renewable Energy Cooperation: Provides for bilateral cooperation through investments, extensive projects, cooperation in R & D in renewable, knowledge sharing platforms and clean energy.
MoU in the Exploration and use of Outer Space for Peaceful Purposes: Framework for cooperation in space technology, science and applications including satellite communication, remote sensing and satellite based navigation.
MoU on Bilateral Currency Swap Arrangement: Promotes currency swap arrangement between the RBI & Central Bank of UAE for bilateral financial relations. 
MoU on Trade: Facilitates both parties to exchange information on trade and business opportunities. It further facilitates procurement of Indian goods and services by UAE. 
MoU for bilateral cooperation in Insurance sector: Aims at promoting cooperation between in the field of insurance supervision and increasing mutual understanding through regulatory and relevant supervisory information exchange. Executive Programme for Cultural Cooperation (EPCC): Provides range of cultural exchange activities under the new EPCC from 2016 to 2018. Letter of Intent for skill development and recognition of qualifications: Provides collaboration on mutual recognition of qualifications and skill developments.

7. Pulitzer Prize-winning Composer Leslie Bassett died
1. Leslie Bassett, a Pulitzer Prize-winning composer, passed away  in Oakwood, Georgia. He was 93.
Bassett won the Pulitzer for music for Variations for Orchestra, which premiered in Rome in 1963.

8. Wipro buys HealthPlan Services
1. India’s third largest IT exporter Wipro Limited has acquired US based healthcare technology firm HealthPlan Services for US 460 million dollars. This acquisition was part of the Wipro’s traditional “string of pearls” acquisition strategy and it shall help company to strengthen its position in the US health insurance market.
2.  It will help Wipro to participate in the shift of the US health insurance industry towards a customer-centric business model as it has currently has a US 800 million dollars healthcare and life sciences business. This is Wipro’s overall 4th acquisition in the in calendar year 2015 after it had bought Denmark-based Designit, German IT consulting firm Cellent AG and US-based Viteos Group.
