1. Gujarat's won maiden Ranji Trophy title
1. Captain Parthiv Patel hit an attacking 143 on the final day to lead Gujarat to a maiden Ranji Trophy title with a five-wicket victory over heavyweights Mumbai in Indore .
2. The diminutive wicketkeeper-batsman also top-scored for his side with 90 in the first innings, giving Gujarat a crucial 100-run lead after Mumbai were restricted to 228 in the title match for India’s domestic first-class championship.
3. Mumbai, who were aiming to claim a 42nd title, improved in the second innings and set their opponents a winning target of 312, leaving Gujarat needing to complete the highest final run chase in tournament history to claim the title.

2. India, US ink MoU for collaboration in third world countries
1. India and the United States has signed MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) to collaborate in the fields of developmental activities and aid in third world countries.
2. The MoU has been signed between the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and Union Ministry of External Affairs’ Development Partnership Administration (DPA).

3. India ink MoU with Sri Lanka to construct 3,000 rain water harvesting systems
1. India has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sri Lanka to construct 3000 rain water harvesting systems in Rin Jaffna District at a cost of 300 million Rupees (Sri Lankan).
2. The rain water project envisages construction of 3000 rainwater harvesting systems for 3000 households in selected divisions of Jaffna District.

4. Rajesh Gopinathan appointed as CEO of TCS
1. India’s largest software firm, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS), has named its chief financial officer (CFO), Rajesh Gopinathan as the chief executive officer (CEO).
2. He succeeds N. Chandrasekaran who was named chairman of Tata Sons. Gopinathan is an alumni of Regional Engineering College, Trichy (now National Institute of Technology), and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad.
3. He had joined TCS from Tata Industries in 2001. Since the he has worked across different geographies and units before being appointed CFO in 2013.

5. Sarita Devi set to become India’s first female professional boxer 
1. Former world champion Sarita Devi is set to become the first female professional boxer from India. She has signed a two-year deal with Sporty Boxing Private Limited, a licensing body for professional boxers in India.
2. She will be making her professional debut against Hungary’s Zsofia Bedo on January 29, 2017 fight night being organised by Indian Boxing Council (IBC) in Imphal. At present, she is training under Joe Clough, who is known for being a part of Muhammad Ali’s coaching staff.

6. Ecuador takes chair of UN group of 134 developing countries
1. .Ecuador has taken over from Thailand as chair of the Group of 77 which promotes the interests of the 134 developing countries it represents at the United Nations, including China.
2.Ecuador’s President Rafael Correa Stated the handover ceremony that the group will continue promoting “social and economic equality.”
