1. Jitu, Heena win medals at Asian Airgun Championships

Pistol aces Jitu Rai and Heena Sidhu bagged a bronze each to continue India's medal charge at the 10th Asian Championship 10m Rifle/Pistol in Wako City, Japan.

2. India to grow at 7.2% in 2018: UN report

India’s growth rate is projected to accelerate to 7.2 per cent in 2018 and 7.4 per cent in 2019.
In its report ‘World Economic Situation Prospects’, released at the UN headquarters in New York, the UN said “GDP growth for India is projected to accelerate from 6.7 per cent in 2017 to 7.2 per cent in 2018 and 7.4 per cent in 2019“.

3. World’s largest automated container terminal opens in China

China started trial operations of world’s biggest automated container terminal at Yangshan Deep Water Port in Shanghai, the country’s commercial hub.

4. ASEAN–India Connectivity Summit held in New Delhi

The ASEAN–India (Association of Southeast Asian Nations-India) Connectivity Summit (AICS) was held in New Delhi. The theme of summit was ‘Powering Digital and Physical Linkages for Asia in the 21st Century’.

5. Lalji Singh: Father of DNA fingerprinting in India passes away

Eminent scientist and father of DNA fingerprinting in India Lalji Singh passed away following heart attack. He was 70. He was one of the leaders instrumental in making DNA fingerprinting mainstream in India, both at level of research as well as for forensic application.
