• It is centrally sponsored scheme for the rural development of India started in September 2005.
• There are 6 objectives in this scheme

Objectives:
a) To provide all weather road connectivity to the village which have more than 1000 population in plain areas and 500 population in hilly areas.

Banking Ombudsman, 2006

1. What is the Banking Ombudsman Scheme?
The Banking Ombudsman Scheme enables an expeditious and inexpensive forum to bank customers for resolution of complaints relating to certain services rendered by banks. The Banking Ombudsman Scheme is introduced under Section 35 A of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 by RBI with effect from
1995.

2. Who is a Banking Ombudsman?
The Banking Ombudsman is a senior official appointed by the Reserve Bank of India to redress customer complaints against deficiency in certain banking services.

India ranks 130th in 2017 Ease of Doing Business index

India has been placed at 130th position among the 190 countries in the recently released World Bank’s ease of doing business index for the year 2017. 

India ranks 87th on the WEF’s Global Gender Gap Report 2016

India has been ranked 87th out of 144 countries on the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Gender Gap Report 2016.

India has climbed 21 spots from 108th position in 2015. The report measures gender gap as progress towards parity between men and women in four areas (i) Educational attainment, (ii) Health and survival, (iii) Economic opportunity and (iv) Political empowerment.

India wins 2016 Kabaddi World Cup

India has won the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup by defeating Iran by 38-29 score in the final match played at the Arena By TransStadia in Ahmedabad (Gujarat. It was India’s third consecutive Kabaddi World Cup in the Standard Style version of Kabaddi. Earlier India had won in 2004 and 2007.

8th BRICS Summit 2016

The 2016 BRICS summit was the eighth annual BRICS summit, an international relations conference attended by the heads of country or heads of government of the five member countries Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

The summit was held from 15 to 16 October 2016 at the Taj Exotica hotel in Benaulim, Goa, India.India holds the chair of the BRICS from February 2016 to December 2016.

China launches manned space mission

China moved a step closer to establish its permanent space station by 2022 as it launched a spacecraft carrying two astronauts, in its longest-ever manned space mission, who would later join its second experimental space lab orbiting the Earth.
