1. Liar’s Dice’ to represent India at Oscars
 Hindi film ‘Liar’s Dice’, a road drama about a tribal woman’s journey to find her
 missing husband, has been selected as India’s official entry to the upcoming Academy awards in the best foreign film category.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas and starring Geetanjali Thapa and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles, ‘Liar’s Dice’ beat 29 other films to represent India at the Oscars 2015, Supran Sen, secretary general of the Film Federation of India (FFI) told PTI.
Mr. Sen said FFI, which nominates the Oscar entry from India every year, had received a record submission of 30 films.


2. Saurav Ghosal settles for silver in men’s squash
aurav Ghosal on Tuesday squandered a two-game advantage to narrowly miss out on becoming the first Indian squash player to win the gold medal at the Asian Games.
Ghosal was leading after the first two games of the gold-medal match but his
 opponent, Kuwait’s Abdullah Almezayen, staged a dramatic fightback winning the next three games to clinch the top prize.
Almezayen won the title clash 10-12 2-11 14-12 11-8 11-9 at the Yeorumul Squash Courts. The Indian missed out on a gold-medal point with the scoreline reading 12-11 in the third game, which eventually proved to be the decisive game.

3. Alibaba IPO pushes Jack Ma to rank 1 on Hurun Chinese Rich List
 Jack Ma of Alibaba, with a fortune of $25 billion, has been crowned the richest in the Hurun China Rich List for 2014 released today.
He relegated Wang Jianlin of Wandain ($24.2 billion) to the second place.

4. Bindra wins individual bronze, finishes on podium twice
 Indian shooting ace Abhinav Bindra on Tuesday bid adieu to Asian Games by clinching the individual bronze medal in men’s 10-m air rifle event after guiding the team to a third-place finish on the fourth day of competitions in Incheon.
Before winning the individual bronze, Bindra teamed up with Sanjeev Rajput and Ravi Kumar to finish third on the podium, helping India swell their medals tally to eight in the 17th edition of the mega-event. 

5. Federer replaces injured Nadal in Indian team for IPTL
 Roger Federer has been confirmed as Rafael Nadal’s replacement for the Indian Aces in the inaugural International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) that begins on November 28.
Federer joins Pete Sampras, Gael Monfils, Ana Ivanovic, Sania Mirza, Rohan Bopanna and Fabrice Santoro in the franchise owned by Micromax. Indian Aces has identified South Africa Davis Cup captain John-Laffnie de Jager as its coach-manager.
Nadal had cited health reasons to pull out of the IPTL before the launch of the Aces. “Nadal has been hurt since Wimbledon.

6. Modi wishes Saudi Arabia on its National Day
 Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that cooperation between India and Saudi Arabia “will grow in the years to come” while greeting the people of the Gulf nation on their National Day.
“Best wishes to the people of Saudi Arabia on their National Day. I am sure the cooperation between our nations will grow in the years to come,” Mr. Modi said.
This year, Saudi Arabia is celebrating its 84th National Day.

Pakistan on Monday named Rizwan Akhtar as the new head for its main intelligence agency, considered the second most powerful military official after the Army Chief.

8. Joseph Gordon Levitt favorite to play Edward Snowden in Oliver Stone film
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is reportedly in talks to play Edward Snowden in a movie set to be directed by Oliver Stone. Themovie that will be produced by Moritz Borman.
Stone and Borman have sealed a deal with Snowden’s Russian lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena,for the film rights  to his novel Time
of the Octopus .
