 1. Union Government decided to re-launch Direct Benefit Transfer scheme
Union Government  decided to re-launch the modified Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme in an effective manner.  The implementation of DBT will be made on a mission mode between 10 November 2014 and 1 January 2015 in 54 districts.
At Present, the beneficiaries having bank accounts under Aadhaar and the beneficiaries who have bank accounts under the Jan Dhan Yojana will now get subsidy on LPG directly in their accounts.
The beneficiaries who are outside from the scheme i.e. who have neither an Aadhar identity nor a bank account through Jan Dhan Yojna will get old cylinder system for some time.

2. India won Sultan of Johor Cup Under-21 Hockey title
India  successfully defended its Sultan of Johor Cup (SOJC) Under-21 Hockey title at Taman Daya Hockey Stadium, Johor Bohru, Malaysia. In the finals, Indian team defeated Great Britain, 2-1.
Harmanpreet Singh converted two penalty corners for India, while for Great Britain; Samuel French was the lone goal scorer.
With this win, India became the first team to win the title twice since the inception of the tournament in 2011. India won its first title in 2013.


3. Hulkenberg to continue with Force India in 2015 season
 Nico Hulkeberg will continue to race for Sahara Force India in the 2015 Formula One season, the team confirmed on Monday.
The 27-year-old German had returned to Force India at the start of 2014 after spending a year with Sauber and has enjoyed a reasonably good season, finishing among points in 13 races out of 16 so far.
Hulkenberg is lying eighth in the drivers’ championship, having earned 76 points. Now it remains to be seen if Sergio Perez remains his teammate or the Mexican moves elsewhere.

4. Air India to get Rs. 6,000 cr capital infusion from government

  State-owned Air India will get around Rs. 3,000 crore more in the later part of this fiscal from the Government towards capital infusion and the ailing carrier is expected to make operational profits from the next financial year, a top official of the Ministry of Civil Aviation said.
V Somasundaram, Secretary of Ministry of Civil Aviation also said there is no proposal to build a Greenfield airport at cyclone-hit Visakhapatnam.
“Air India has a turnaround plan, under which a little over Rs. 6,000 crore has to be infused this year. I think more than half of that has been given already. Another around Rs. 3,000 crore will be infused by the end of the financial year,” Somasundaram told PTI during his recent visit to Visakhapatnam.
National carrier Air India, which is sitting on a huge debt pile, is surviving on the Rs. 30,000-crore government bailout package announced by the Government earlier.

5. Egypt signed contracts with six international firms to dredge new Suez Canal
Egypt  signed contracts with six international firms to carry out dredging of the new Suez Canal. Construction of the new Suez Canal is the flagship project under President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's program to revive an economy battered by years of political turmoil.
The companies are National Marine Dredging Company NMDC.AD of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Royal Boskalis Westminster (BOSN.AS) and Van Oord of the Netherlands; Jan de Nul Group and Deme Group of Belgium and US-based Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company (GLDD.O).
The total project would require up to 36 dredgers to remove about 250 million cubic meters worth of material. However, the financial details of the contracts were not provided.

6. Flipkart signed real estate lease deal with Embassy Office Parks
E-commerce firm Flipkart signed
real estate lease deal with Embassy Office Parks, the joint venture between Embassy Group and Blackstone.
The deal is largest-ever single commercial real estate leasing deal in India in terms of area. However, financial details were not disclosed by the companies.
Highlights of the deal
•    The deal was signed up for over 3 million sq ft of office space in phases at the Embassy TechVillage in Bangalore.
•    The office premises of 1.5 million sq ft with fit-outs is expected to be delivered by 2015.
•    There is an option to increase this area to 3.25 million sq ft over the next 3 years to 5 years.

7. WHO declares Nigeria free of Ebola
he World Health Organisation has declared that Nigeria is now free of Ebola.
In an update issued on Monday, the U.N. health agency said the country’s containment of the lethal disease was a “spectacular success story”.
The announcement comes after 42 days have passed twice the disease’s maximum incubation period since the last case in Nigeria tested negative.
WHO said Nigeria had traced nearly every contact of Ebola patients in the country, all of whom were linked to the country’s first patient, a Liberian man who arrived with symptoms in Lagos and later died. Nigeria reported 20 cases of Ebola, including eight deaths.
For an outbreak to be declared officially over, WHO convenes a committee on surveillance, epidemiology and lab testing to determine that all conditions have been met.
