1.Virat Kohli became first Indian cricketer to score century against Pakistan in World Cup
Virat Kohli on 15 February 2015 became the first Indian cricketer to score a century against Pakistan in the ICC World Cup. He scored 107-run off 126-balls at the Adelaide Oval, Australia.
India who scored 300 for seven after electing to bat first in the 2015 World Cup opener defeated Pakistan with 76-run. The highest score by an Indian batsman before this match was Sachin Tendulkar’s 98 in Centurion, South Africa in 2003.
With this century, Kohli also became the quickest batsman to score 22 centuries in ODIs. He had taken just 143 innings to reach the mark. Previous record of quickest 22 centuries was held by Sachin who took 206 innings to score it.


2. Modi, Sirisena hold joint press conference at the forecourts of Rashtrapati Bhawan, in New Delhi
List of Agreements/MoUs signed during the State Visit of the President of Sri Lanka to India:
(i). Agreement between Sri Lanka and India on Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy.
The Agreement would facilitate cooperation in the transfer and exchange of knowledge and expertise, sharing of resources, capacity building and training of personnel in peaceful uses of nuclear energy including use of radioisotopes, nuclear safety, radiation safety, nuclear security, radioactive waste management and nuclear and radiological disaster mitigation and environmental protection.
(ii). Programme of Cultural Cooperation between Sri Lanka and India for the years 2015 - 18.
The Programme of Cultural Cooperation for 2015-18 seeks to enhance the level of cooperation in a wide variety of fields such as performing arts, visual arts, libraries, museums, archives & cultural documentation, archaeology, handicrafts, publications and professional exchanges
(iii) MoU on the Establishment of Nalanda University.
The MoU would enable Sri Lanka to participate in the Nalanda University Project.
(iv) Work-Plan 2014-2015 under the MoU on Cooperation in the field of Agriculture between India and Sri Lanka.
The Work Plan would facilitate bilateral cooperation in Agro Processing, Agricultural extension, horticulture, agricultural machinery, training in farm mechanization, livestock diseases, etc. between relevant institutes and organizations from both countries.

3. China opens largest embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan
China has opened new embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan. It is the largest overseas diplomatic mission of China.
An opening ceremony of this embassy was held on 13 February 2015, during China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi ‘s three day visit to Pakistan. During the opening ceremony Wang Yi has described its largest overseas embassy as a symbol of friendship between China and Pakistan.
However, China has not disclosed the details of the new embassy.
The opening of China’s largest Islamabad based embassy came after China and Pakistan deepen their all weather relations by constructing the multi-billion Economic Corridor through the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) region.
Economic Corridor through PoK, is part of the China’s ambititous Silk Road projects which is proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping. This Corridor aims to connect China’s Xinjiang province with Pakistan’s Gwadar Port located in Balochistan.
At present, China maintains large diplomatic missions abroad, including in Washington, New York and New Delhi. Its mission in New Delhi has over 300 personnel.

4. Nagesh Kukunoor’s film Dhanak honoured at 65th Berlin Film Festival 
Filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor’s film Dhanak has been honoured with The Grand Prix of the Generation Kplus International Jury for the best feature-length film at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival (also known as the Berlinale).
The movie, which was premiered at the festival also has received a honour of special mention with the children’s jury at the festival.

Film’s story revolves around the relationship between a 10-year old girl Pari and Chotu, her 8-year old brother who live in a picturesque village.

5. Chhattisgarh government gets award for renewable power development
Chhattisgarh has won award for being one of the best-performing states in the renewable energy segment in India.
Principal Secretary of Chhattisgarh’s Energy department, Aman Singh was presented this award by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the first Renewable Energy Global Investors Meet (RE-Invest) 2015 held in New Delhi.
The state was adjudged this award on the basis of criteria fixed by 13th Finance Commission headed by Vijay Kelkar.
Renewable energy sector in Chhattisgarh
Chhattisgarh has done commendable work in renewable energy sector.
Currently, solar power is powering 600 primary health centre, 100 community health centre, 350 police stations, 1800 tribal hostels, 27 collectorates and 1,700 villages of the state.
In addition, various villages in Chhattisgarh are using 3,000 solar power pumps for drinking water and 1,500 for irrigation purpose.
State is generating 45 MW off grid solar power and 200 MW through rice husk.

6. Uttarkhand to set up madrasa development fund
Uttarkhand government on Sunday said it will set up a Rs. 5 crore ‘special development fund’ for the development of madrasas in the state.
Uttarkhand Chief Harish Rawat, while addressing a press conference here, said that the government also constitute a seven-member committee which would suggest long term plans for improving the condition of madrasas.
The government would also set up similar development funds to improve the conditions of other minority institutions of the state, Rawat told reporters.

7. Dumping duty imposed on graphite electrodes from China 
The Finance Ministry has imposed definitive anti-dumping duty on all imports of graphite electrodes from China.
Graphite electrodes are mainly used for melting of steel by passing electric current into the charge fed into the furnaces.
This method of steel making is also known as secondary steel making.
This anti-dumping duty will be valid for a period of five years.
The petition seeking anti-dumping duty on graphite electrodes imports from China was filed by HEG Ltd and Graphite India Ltd.
The revenue department has imposed an anti-dumping duty that varied depending on the producer and the exporter concerned from China.
For graphite electrode imports from other than specified exporters in China, the revenue department has imposed definitive anti-dumping duty of $ 922.03 per tonne.

8. Happiest Minds appoints Sashi Kumar as CEO and MD
Happiest Minds Technologies, a next-gen IT services provider, today announced the appointment of Sashi Kumar as CEO & MD of the organisation. The announcement comes three months after Vikram Gulati stepped down as CEO & MD after the board decided that the company’s CEO & MD needs to be based out of Bengaluru.
A statement released by the company says, Kumar brings a wealth of experience to Happiest Minds.

9.French actor Louis Jourdan passes away
French actor Louis Jourdan has passed away on 14 February 2015 in Los Angeles, United States. He was 93. He was best known for his role in the multi-Oscar winning musical film Gigi of 1958 .
