1. Australia Win Fifth World Cup Title as Michael Clarke Bows Out in Style
Michael Clarke hit 74 in his last one-day international to lead Australia to their fifth World Cup title with a seven-wicket win over New Zealand in a disappointing final on Sunday.A record crowd of 93,013 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground saw power-packed Australia bowl out the Black Caps for 183 and then gallop to victory in the 34th over.
Clarke, added 112 runs for the third wicket with his likely successor Steve Smith, who returned unbeaten on 56. The emphatic win was set up by the left-arm fast bowling trio of Mitchell Starc, James Faulkner and Mitchell Johnson who shared eight wickets after the Kiwis elected to bat on a good pitch.

2. Clarke retires from ODIs as World Champion
In a dream farewell, Michael Clarke today retired from ODIs after leading Australia to their fifth cricket World Cup title, scoring a match-winning 74 in his swansong appearance to get a standing ovation from a 93,000-strong crowd at the MCG here.
Australia outplayed New Zealand by 7 wickets as Clarke became the fourth Australian captain after Allan Border (1987), Steve Waugh (1999) and Ricky Ponting (2003, 2007) to win the coveted 50-over prize in world cricket.
Clarke, who is just three days short of his 34th birthday, goes out after playing 245 ODIs scoring 7981 runs with eight hundreds and 58 half-centuries. He will, however, continue to play for Australia in Test format.bThe stylish right-hander, who has been under immense pressure to hold his place in the ODI side, announced his retirement after the semi-final win against India in Sydney.
‘Pup’, as he is fondly called, said the time was just right to bid adieu to ODIs.

3. Modi meets Israel president in Singapore
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today met Israel President Reuven Rivlin and discussed the bilateral relations and the ways to take it forward.
Modi, who arrived here this morning to attend the State funeral services of Lee who died at the age of 91, had a short meeting with President Rivlin who reiterated an invitation to the Prime Minister to visit Israel. There is an invitation from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for Modi to visit Israel.
But the exact dates and formality on this regard will be decided through diplomatic channels, said External Affairs Ministry Spokesman Syen Akbaruddin. The two leaders discussed the healthy state of bilateral relation and how to take it forward, he told reporters. Both Modi and Rivlin are in Singapore to attend the state funeral service of Singapore’s first Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew who had died last Monday. Prime Minister Modi had congratulated his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu on his re-election recently.

4. ‘SBI set to buy residential properties of Air India in south Mumbai’
The country’s largest lender State Bank of India has received all necessary approvals to buy residential properties of cash-starved national carrier Air India in south Mumbai for Rs. 90 crore. “The bank has got all the required approvals and it has conveyed its willingness to buy the properties from Air India.
SBI is now waiting for the airline to complete its side of approvals,” sources close to development told PTI. The state-owned bank is planning to allocate these flats to its top executives of the rank of Deputy Managing Directors and General Managers.
The airline had been looking for buyers who can purchase its four flats at up-market Peddar road in south Mumbai since last two years. Air India has some working capital borrowings from SBI, besides long-term loans. The funds raised from the sale proceeds would help reduce this working capital loan besides reducing the interest outgo, airline sources had earlier said.

5. GST spooks big taxpayers of country’s first LTU in Bengaluru
High-net worth entities of country’s first Large Taxpayer Unit (LTU) here are unnerved at the protocols that would follow proposed roll out of Goods and Services Tax (GST) next year even as they seek more facilities from government to improve the ease of doing business in India.
The LTU in the Karnataka capital was the first, among the five such facilities in the country, to be created in 2006 by the central government to act as a ‘single window’ facilitation centre for all large entities who have to pay various taxes like excise, corporate/income tax and service tax, under one roof.

6. Earth Hour 2015 observed across the World
The ninth edition of Earth Hour kicks-off, people across the globe show their growing concern over climate change by switching off the lights for an hour.
Earth Hour is an annual campaign started by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature/World Wildlife Fund), to raise awareness for the need of sustainable energy.
The campaign urges households and business establishments across the world to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for an hour at the appointed time (8:30 pm to 9:30 pm)

7. Delhi Government launched India’s first e-ration card Service
Delhi Government launched India’s first e-ration card service. The service was launched by the Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal.In this service, E-ration card will be linked with Aadhaar cards and it would enable the beneficiaries of Public Distribution System (PDS) to get the cards online from the government’s web portal without hassles.
The new service is expected to curb corruption and increase transparency in the system.
The service would cut down the delays in preparation of ration card and would ensure the fast delivery to the beneficiaries.
As soon as an application for providing food security is approved by the Food Supply Officer concerned, a message will go to the cellphone number of the beneficiary informing him or her about approval of application and ration card.
The beneficiary can go to the portal of the department, http://nfs.delhi.gov.in, enter the ration card number and other basic information and get a password on cellphone. After entry of this password, the e-ration card will be generated which can be stored in the electronic form and used to get the ration supplies. It can also be printed by the beneficiary from anywhere.
