1. Narendra Modi gifted Miniature Painting titled Guru Nanak Dev to Stephen Harper
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi  gifted a miniature painting titled Guru Nanak Dev to Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper. Modi was on an official visit to Canada from 14 April to 16 April 2015.
The miniature paintings composition that shows Guru Nanak Dev with his two disciples Bhai Mardana and Bhai Bala, sitting beside him is painted in the traditional Indian miniature style. It is painted on handmade paper with mineral colours and carries background of pristine landscape which adds to the tranquility around the painting encased in intricately painted borders.
The painting is the work of Virendra Bannu, a Jaipur-based artist, who is the seventh generation artist in his family. Bannu has been taking forward the legacy of his family in specialized miniature art form.


2. RBL Bank tees off India’s first credit card for golf lovers
RBL Bank (formerly Ratnakar Bank) has launched India’s first golf-centric credit card. The card — based on the premium MasterCard World platform — has been launched in association with the Indian Golf Union (IGU).
Targeted at golf enthusiasts, the RBL IGU NHS Golf World card automatically enrols clients to the National Handicap Service (NHS) of the IGU with the additional benefit of earning a cash-back amount equivalent to the NHS yearly membership fee.
The card will be free for life for customers and offers a host of golfing privileges such as discounted golf accessories, complimentary golf access and hole-in-one celebration bonuses, among others.
Customers will have access to 11 premier golf courses across the country, a 50 per cent discount on green fees and free golf lessons.

3. Vijender Gupta appointed Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly
 Bharatiya Janata Party Rohini legislator Vijender Gupta was on Thursday appointed the leader of opposition in the Delhi assembly, an official statement said
The speaker has recognized Vijender Gupta who is the leader of the house of the party in opposition to the government having the greatest numerical strength as leader of opposition in the legislative assembly with immediate effect," a statement by the Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat said.
"Recognised as LOP (leader of opposition) as per Sec 2 of the Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly of the NCT of Delhi Act,2001," Gupta, one of the just three Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators in the house, tweeted.

4. Satya Nadella honoured with the White House Champions of Change
Microsoft’s Indian-origin CEO Satya Nadella was honoured with the White House Champions of Change . He is one of the 12 local Champions of Change who were honoured for their exemplary leadership. Champions of Change honour is given to those who support working families and help make change in their companies or communities.
Satya Nadella is the first Indian-origin Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Microsoft. He was named as one of the Champions of Change for his employee-friendly initiative. For instance, recently Microsoft announced that from 2016 onwards all the suppliers that do business with Microsoft in the US will have to provide at least 15 days of paid leave each year to their employees who handle Microsoft work.

5. Pakistan and Russia agreed to hold first-ever joint military exercise
Pakistan and Russia agreed to hold first-ever joint military exercises as a part of their enhanced defence cooperation. The agreement was reached during the meet held in Moscow between Pakistan defence minister Khawaja Asif and his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu.
Main features of the Agreement 
• The two nations agreed to enhance cooperation in both defence industry and military training
• They agreed to promote joint participation in military exercises
• They agreed to resolve conflicts through diplomatic means and that use of force must be discouraged and abandoned
• They reached a consensus that a multi-polar world would ensure peace and balance in international relations

6. Ancient Indian sculpture Parrot Lady presented to PM Narendra Modi by Canadian PM
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper on 16 April 2015 presented ancient Indian sculpture Parrot Lady to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was presented with the sculpture during his official visit to Canada.
Parrot Lady is a life-sized, sandstone sculpture and is said to be around 900 year old. The sculpture of a Naayika or Heroine has a parrot on her back. It was carved for placement in one of the Khajuraho temples that form a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Madhya Pradesh.
The sculpture of Parrot Lady was found in Canada in 2011 when it was seized under the Cultural Property Export and Import law from a person who did not have proper documentation. It was then turned over to the department of Canadian Heritage in Edmonton.

7. Tennessee House voted to make Bible as official state book
The Tennessee House of Representatives voted to make Andrew Jackson's Bible as the official book of Tennessee, a US state. Now, the Bill will go to Senate for being passed and if it is passes in Senate then it will become an Official book of the state.
The lawmakers voted 55-38 in favor of Republican Rep. Jerry Sexton's original Bill, despite questions of constitutionality of the Bill.House Speaker Beth Harwell, R-Nashville, was one of 20 Republicans to vote against the GOP-led effort. Only six Democrats voted in favor of the bill, while 6 people including House Minority Leader Craig Fitzhugh abstained from voting.
