1. HRD Minister inaugurates Super Computer PARAM-ISHAN at IIT Guwahati
1. Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar inaugurated the super computer PARAM ISHAN at IIT Guwahati campus.
2. Students and faculty members of IIT Guwahati are expected to derive huge benefit from the facility.
3. It has been jointly developed by IIT Guwahati and Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, C -DAC.
4. PARAM ISHAN has the power of 250 Teraflops and 300 terabyte capacity and can be used in the application areas like computational chemistry, computational fluid dynamics, computational electromagnetic, civil engineering structures, nana-block self assemble, optimization and others.

1. Alka Sirohi appointed as UPSC chairman
1. President Pranab Mukherjee has appointed former IAS officer Alka Sirohi as chairman of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) as per Article 316 of Constitution. She will replace Deepak Gupta who demits office on 20th September 2016. She will be in office till completion of her term as member on January 3, 2017.
2. Before joining the UPSC as a member in January 2012, she was Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT)

1. ISRO, Katrina, Juhi Chawla will get Priyadarshini Global Awards
1. Bengaluru-based Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Bollywood actors Katrina Kaif and Juhi Chawla are among recipients of the Priyadarshini Global Awards 2016 which will be presented on September 19.
2. Other recipients of the awards, instituted by a socio-cultural and educational organisation Priyadarshini Academy, in various fields are from Israel, Switzerland and UK.

1. India, Nepal sign three agreements including improvement of road network
1. India and Nepal signed three MoUs and agreements to enhance the bilateral agreement between the two nations.
2. The agreements were inked during the four-day-visit (from 15 September to 18 September 2016) of Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda to India.
The inked MOUs and agreements are
• MoU for project management consultancy services for upgradation/improvement of road infrastructure in Terai area of Nepal – The services will be provided by NHIDCL in pursuance of the MoU signed on 20 February 2016.
• First Amendatory Dollar credit line agreement between Nepal and EXIM Bank: Amendatory agreement to 1 billion US dollar Line of Credit agreement signed on 25 November 2014, enabling reapportioning of unutilised funds for post-earthquake reconstruction projects in Nepal.
• Dollar Credit line agreement between Nepal and EXIM Bank: New Line of Credit agreement for 750 million US dollar for post-earthquake reconstruction projects in Nepal.

1. UIDAI bans sharing of Aadhaar details
1. In a step to ensure that the details of Aadhaar is not misused, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) asked agencies in possession of Aadhaar number of an individual to not publish or post the information publicly.
2. It said that the agencies will have to ensure security and confidentiality of the 12-digit resident identification number under the Aadhaar Act.
3. Regulations
• The core biometric information, collected by the Authority, cannot be shared with anyone for any reason.
• Any violation of the Aadhaar Act will constitute an offence and is punishable under the Act.
• The agencies that collect the Aadhaar number will also have to specify whether submission of the number or proof of Aadhaar is mandatory or voluntary.
• The regulations also provide for obtaining consent of the Aadhaar number holder for collection, storage and use of the same for specified purposes.
